It's the New Year, but that doesn't mean scammers have turned over a new leaf (whatever that means)!
Scams and scammers are out there, and in this video, we'll show you a few of the more "popular" ones making the rounds: How to identify them, and how to avoid them.
There's the "fake receipt" email scam. I've seen it show up a few times in my own email inbox in the past few weeks. Seems you've spent a lot of money on some subscription renewal, most likely for a product you never bought in the first place! Hint: It's not about the receipt, it's about getting you on the phone.
Speaking of phones, another scam that's been around for a long time, but is still (and I hate using this word), "popular," is when your phone rings and the caller tells you they're from some big, well-known tech company... and guess what? They're calling to help you with a problem!
Lastly is a scam that's been around since practically the beginning of the internet and email... but it's still going strong! It's all about fake email messages, promising you (the reader) something cool or funny, or interesting or something else...and all you need do is... Well, guess you'd better watch the video and see what it's all about.
As always, if you have questions or would like help with some particular aspect of using your iPhone or iPad, get in touch. You can ask regular computer-related questions too, but I can't be sure I'll know the full answer. I'll do my best!
