Learning to Love Widgets

Adding and using new "Widgets" on your iPhone or iPad home screens.

Are you using them yet? I'm talking about widgets… Those larger than normal sized icons on the screens of your iPhone or iPad. Widgets are a way to show information from apps on your device, but you don't have to open the app to be able to see the info.

One of the most popular widgets out there is the clock widget. One of the things I've always disliked that. One of the things that's always been a little "challenge" with my iPhone is that there's no easy way to check the time. But now, I can put a widget on the home screen that shows a larger than life clock, letting me see the time with a quick glance.

Of course time isn't the only thing you can show in a widget. Important information like the local weather forecast, stock market quotes, the latest event on your calendar, and lots more can be shown with widgets on the home screen of your iPhone or iPad.

In this video, I'll show you how to put a widget on the home screen of your device. I'll also show you how to configure the widget to show exactly the information that you want. iPhones and iPads come with lots of widgets built in, ready for you to use.
